Book Blitz and Giveaway: Aberrant by Ruth Silver

Welcome to the Aberrant Book Blitz organized by Xpresso Book Tours.  I've got an excerpt for you as well as an international giveaway!

In the future Dystopian society of Cabal, the government instills equality for all and offers its citizens the perfect system. There is food, shelter and jobs for everyone. The one requirement is to follow the rules without question, including the government's match in marriage and "The Day of the Chosen", a lottery that randomly selects families to conceive children as natural means hasn't existed in generations. Following her eighteenth birthday, Olivia Parker accepts her requirement to marry her childhood best friend, Joshua Warren, and is eager to start her work assignment and new life when it all comes abruptly to an end as she's arrested and thrown in prison. The only crime committed, her existence. Olivia is unlike the rest of the world born not from "The Day of the Chosen." The truth haunts the government and puts her life in grave danger as one simple fact would destroy the perfect system.

With Joshua's help, Olivia breaks free of prison and is forced on the run. Together they set out to find the promised rebel town in search of a new home and new life together. Their situation seems less than promising as they reach the town of Haven. New rules and customs must be adhered to in order to stay. Leaving would mean most certain death in the large expanse of the Gravelands. Time is running out as the government mounts an attack to destroy Olivia and bury her secret with her. Thrown into a world unlike their own, they must quickly adapt to survive.

Excerpt:
We rounded the corner and my eyes caught sight of a line of young men stretching around council hall, extending for blocks. "What's going on over there?" I asked.
Landon's face perked up, a hint of a smile playing on his lips, "they're here for you, Olivia."
"Me?" I felt nervous and swallowed the bile rising in my throat.
Landon patted my back, as if he had the ability to reassure me. His touch was repulsive. I pulled away slightly from his grasp, my gaze still attached to the hundreds of young men lining up along the edge of the building and pushed back down into the street. "They're submitting their applications to date you."
"You're joking?" My eyes wide and mouth agape, I couldn't believe this was happening. "This is because of Joshua yesterday, isn't it?" It had to be the reason they found it necessary to punish me.
Landon sighed. He seemed agitated with me, short-tempered. "We've told you, Olivia, you can't be with Joshua."
I rolled my eyes, "yes and you've also told me I have three years to decide. What's all this!" I gestured towards the young men as I pushed them aside to walk through the main entrance, they were in my way.
"Hey! No cutting in line," one of the young men yelled before his voice faltered off realizing I wasn't there to apply. "Are you Olivia?" His voice echoed against the building as he took another step, further inching towards the foyer.
"It's none of your damned business!" I shouted back, my eyes glaring as I knocked Landon hard with my elbow. I knew it wouldn't win me any brownie points but I didn't care. I was beyond pissed. My feet clanked over the marble flooring. In the center of the room a table had been set up where the young men were fast approaching, one after another. "You're wasting your time," I called back to the woman hosting the event as she recorded their information in an oversized book.
"This way," Landon escorted me away from the line of bachelors towards the open door.
"Please, come in," the older wiry-haired woman gestured us inside and shut the door promptly behind us. All the noise and commotion from the main foyer disappeared inside the room.

Book Blitz and Giveaway: All In by Marta Brown

I'm happy to be part of the All In Book Blitz organized by Xpresso Book Tours.  I have an excerpt from the book as well as a giveaway.

On the picturesque island of Martha's Vineyard, there are two kinds of residents. Locals and Stays.

Local boy, Lane McCarthy, plans on spending his summer working at the country club to save money for college in the fall, while summer stay, Ashley Whitmore, and her elite group of friends are only there to play.

As the summer heat goes up on the island, so does the ante, when both Lane and Ashley must decide what they’re willing to wager in order to follow their dreams… and their hearts.

With stakes as high as the surf, and hopes as high as the midday sun, will they risk everything and go all in?

Excerpt (Ashley's POV):
"So...you work here?"

He looks around at our surroundings then runs his hand through his already messy hair.

“Uh, yeah…I actually took over for my grandpa a few months ago.” He glances up the stairs and then back down to me. “You wanna see the top?”

I nod and follow behind him as we climb the rest of the way up. I glimpse off the side of the railing and down the middle of the spiraling staircase when we reach the top and regret it immediately.

“Whoa there,” Lane says as he reaches out and grips my waist when I sway slightly. His hands graze the small sliver of exposed skin between my jean shorts and tank top and it makes me even more lightheaded than the height.

“I uh… didn’t realize how high up we are.”

“It took a little getting used to for me too. Just give yourself a few minutes, and try not to look down.” Lane smiles but keeps his hands wrapped around my hips.

“I think I’m good,” I say after a minute, then chastise myself because he lets go of me.

I continue to hold the railing tight as we take the final few steps to the top of the lighthouse. “What do you mean you took over for your grandpa?” I ask, trying to busy my mind, so I don’t focus on the height, or the way his hands felt on my skin.

“Oh yeah,” he says, like he’s completely forgotten what we were talking about before my little dizzy spell.

About the Author:

diane

Diane has lived in Massachusetts all her life where early on, her artistic talents were fostered, though her skills as an "excellent report writer" were often noted in previous employment. On her brother Rick's birthday, November 16, 2004, seven months after his death, she woke from an amazing dream which would not fade. She outlined the dream, made a few quick notes and days later produced a 12 page short story. After deciding her story was interesting but incomplete, she began writing her first novel, using her dream as its climax. She now believes the dream to be a 'Spirit Gift,' sent by her brother. Diane continues to reside in Central MA with her husband and a very naughty Basset Hound named Basil and his new adopted sister-Basset, Ruby, both of whom cleverly wreak havoc on the Haynes' formerly well-ordered lives. She spends her time writing, reading books about writing, talking about writing, painting with watercolors, antiqueing and attempting to train a very reluctant Basil and a willing, but highly comedic Ruby.

5/30 – Dee’s Reads – Review
Madeline is obviously a sheltered girl who literally lives the life "of a princess" and it shows. But she's endearing. I love that. She isn't annoying, nor is she a spoiled brat.

I highly recommend this series to any girl with dreams of being a princess and it's great for the entire family, too!

I guess I love fairy tales especially when there is a head strong and noble princess who won’t let anyone or anything hold her back from doing what she thinks is right.  I love her sense of personal integrity and courage which is hard to teach or show kids but this book does it :)  Kirstin is a fabulous story teller and bard :)
-          Jessie’sBook Place - The Wonderful World of Color
Each portion of this world was created carefully, with respect to their colors, the imagery, and the feelings they evoke. I hope you enjoy the Kingdom of Soron, and the wonderful adventures.
6/11 – Backing Books – Review
A nice, short read about making your own choices... sweet and new.
6/12 – Hopelessly Devoted Bibliophile - Review
Continuing the story of Princess Madeline and her royal family, The Battle for Princess Madeline was a short and sweet read. I didn't have the opportunity to read Madeline's first story, but I can absolutely say that this reads as a standalone just fine!
6/13 – Fluttereal Flight Review
In this novel, we see the twisted side to self-entitlement and greed. Prince Paulsen thinks that he deserves Princess Madeline... We see how a pure and brave Prince turns obsessive because of his quest to claim Madeline as his, and it was sad to watch him turn to the dark side because of his greed. I actually really admired Prince Paulsen in the 1st novel, and it was sad to watch him fall from grace
-          MySeryneti "The Battle Begins" Excerpt
Pure panic and fear marred the faces of the crowd as King Theodore ordered the gates raised for his villagers to enter.
6/14 – Grand Finale Blast!

Happy Birthday Kirstin on May 27th!!

Cover Reveal and Giveaway: Immortals (Runes #2) by Ednah Walters

Welcome to the cover reveal of Immortals (Runes #2) by Ednah Walters!  I will be revealing not one but TWO covers for the book.  One is for the print book, and the other is a cover the author is considering for the eBook.

Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…

Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology but that doesn’t stop her from falling hard for him. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her or that she saved him by making a deal with Norns—Norse destiny deities—the same Norns who have now erased his memories of their past together to punish her.

So Raine comes up with a plan...

She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again. But before Raine can put her plan into action, the Norns return. This time, they demand she protects Eirik Seville, her best friend since childhood, from an evil so dark even the Norns are scared.

But you know what they say about well-laid plans…

Caught between protecting Eirik and convincing the stubborn, cocky Torin St. James that the two of them are meant to be together, Raine's life slowly unravels. Friendships are tested. Enemies become allies. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.

***Be sure to vote for Torin St. James in the YA Crush Tourney here today!***

Book Blitz: Rylee Adamson Series by Shannon Mayer

I'm happy to be apart of the Rylee Adamson Blitz organized by Xpresso Book Tours.  I have info on all the books and a character guest post for you.

******

Priceless (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book One):
“My name is Rylee and I am a Tracker.”

When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.

I’m on the FBI’s wanted list.

I have a werewolf for a pet, a Witch of a best friend, and have no need for anyone else in my life.

But when a salvage starts to spin out of control, help comes from a most unexpected direction. One that is dangerously dark, brooding, and doesn’t know a thing about the supernatural.

One whose kisses set me on fire.

******

Immune (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book Two)
“My name is Rylee and I am a Tracker.”

When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.

Underestimating demons is a bad idea, and it’s a mistake that may cost me not only my own life, but the life of a missing child.

If I can swallow my pride, and allow Agent O’Shea to help me find a way to deal with the demon, we might be able to save the child.

With this salvage, it’s a race against time, a test of trust, and a temptation that I'm doing my damnedest to ignore.

If only swallowing my pride was that easy.

******

Raising Innocence (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book Three)
“My name is Rylee and I am a Tracker.”

When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I’m the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot.

The FBI wants me on their team. Bad enough that they are dangling bait they KNOW I can’t resist.

The catch? It’s on the other side of the ocean.

And if I want what they’re offering, I have to help them with a salvage gone terribly, terribly wrong.

But this time, I have no back up. I have no Plan B.

And I have no O’Shea.

******

Rylee Adamson Guest Post:
My name is Rylee. I don’t like it when people use my last name, it reminds me of where I’m from and the people who turned on me. I was adopted as a baby into a family where they couldn’t have children naturally. But when I was ten, my parents got a surprise. A miracle baby, a little girl with golden hair and bright blue eyes.

When I was sixteen, I was accused of killing her; our parents believed the police. But I don’t really want to talk about that it was over ten years ago. I’m trying to let it go.

I’m a Tracker, a supernatural who can trace anyone’s life threads finding them regardless of whether they’re dead or alive. I prefer alive, dead is messy, but so often that is the case. I’m also an Immune, magic slides off me as if I don’t exist. That is handy.

Gods, I’m sweating here trying not to swear. Are you sure I can’t use at least one four letter word? No, of course not.

I never Track adults. They can bloody well take care of themselves. I only ever Track kids. Probably I’m trying to make up for not saving my sister. But I’ll leave that up to the psychologists out there to decipher my motives.

Alex is my buddy, a werewolf trapped between forms; half man, half wolf. Submissive, goofy and loyal to the bone he is the one spot of bright light in my life. I think you’d like him the best of the two of us. I know I can be a hard ass, I can’t seem to help it. But Alex has never met someone he couldn’t win over with a floppy wave of his oversized paws. He might not be the best back-up, but he makes me smile and in my world, that is enough.

Someone once asked me what it was like to Track kids for parents who had no one else to turn to, for parents who’d lost hope that their child would ever be returned to them.

This was my answer: It’s a weight and a responsibility that sits on me, I took an oath that I would never stop Tracking lost children. That I would put my life on the line for those who can’t save themselves, and that I would fight to my last breath to keep a child alive.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Author Candace Knoebel
Music defines a huge part of who I am. I find myself relating moments of my life to music lyrics more often than not. Actually, I find myself wishing that music would play at epic moments in my life...kind of like this one; becoming an author! Number one all-time fave band is Thirty Seconds to Mars. I waited for 10 ½ hours just to be front row to see them in concert and of course it rocked. I also love Paramore, John Mayer, Mute-math, Adele, Band of Horses...the list could go on forever and ever. I love dancing, rocking out in the car to music, spending time with my children and husband, laughing with my bestie, and cooking. I also love watching Tobuscus on you-tube. Books that pull at my heart-strings: Harry Potter Series, Jane Eyre, The Catcher in the Rye, and The Twilight Saga.

Author Tina Hammond
T. Hammond lives in Spokane, WA with her goofy, neurotic, long-coat German shepherd, Dexter; he's noble and brave, until someone turns on the microwave, then she has 100lbs of quivering dog trying to hide behind her chair or bury his head under a pillow (Little known fact: a 100lb German Shepherd CAN fit under a coffee table). Writing is not a calling so much as it is a compulsion. No one is more surprised than she is when characters take over the plot and dialog, and (re)direct stories in directions she had not (consciously) intended. She is fully convinced that the writer is the tool a story uses to tell its tale. Some tools, of course, are more appropriate for the job than others. Here's hoping, you feel she did her stories proud. T. has a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management from Whitworth University, and a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University and before becoming a writer she was a bookkeeper, technical/manual writer, Call Center Manager and the owner of a freshwater aquarium store, Guppy Tales.

Author Deliza Rafferty
Deliza Rafferty is a new erotic romance writer (spicier than traditional romance without hardcore BDSM - always hot, sometimes humorous!) located in Hollywood. "Deliza" means "gives pleasure" and "Rafferty" means "rich and prosperous." With a name like that, what else could she do? Well...legally, anyway? Rafferty has written all sorts of stories, poems and songs for personal enjoyment since she was a little girl, but has been writing "dirty dramas" secretly since her first real kiss in middle school. She's spent most of her "real" career in the music business and draws from her unique first hand experience to bring to life her current series, The Savannah Rossi Chronicles. She is venturing into sharing her musings publicly for the very first time and is excited that modern day technology allows her to do it at her leisure and maintain control of her work.
